Snowplanet’s Solar-Powered Snow Shines a Light on Sunergise

Lachlan McPherson August 25, 2026

Snowplanet and Sunergise are taking the story of solar-powered snow to Auckland commuters this month with a new billboard campaign highlighting their renewable energy partnership.

The billboards carry the message: Snowplanet. Now with solar powder.

The line puts a playful alpine twist on “solar power”, highlighting the role sunshine now plays in keeping Snowplanet’s famous indoor snow slopes skiable throughout the year.

Positioned to reach commuters travelling through Auckland towards Snowplanet in Silverdale, the billboards draw attention to the 1.05-megawatt Sunergise solar installation on the hillside beside Snowplanet.

Utilising the Sunergise SunPlus model, the system reduces Snowplanet’s reliance on grid electricity by approximately 30 percent, helping reduce the facility’s operating costs and carbon footprint without requiring any upfront capital from Snowplanet.

Through the “Now with solar powder” campaign, Sunergise aims to encourage more New Zealand businesses to consider how onsite solar could reduce their energy costs, lower their dependence on the grid and support their sustainability goals.

For Snowplanet, the billboard also gives guests another reason to feel good about visiting. Its year-round snow experience is now supported by one of New Zealand’s most awarded solar power companies, bringing snow and sunshine together in an unexpected way.
